Biography

-born and raised in Republic of Korea

-BA in Archaeology, Seoul National University, 2017

-MA in Archaeology, Seoul National University, 2020

-MPhil in Archaeology (European Prehistory track), Peterhouse, University of Cambridge, 2022

-PhD student in Archaeology at Peterhouse, University of Cambridge since October 2022

-Pony Chung Overseas Doctorate Scholarship recipient

Research

-pre-literate societies at the margins of ancient civilisations

-how prehistoric people made society and history with reference to the material and historical conditions they inhabited

-discussing long-term and large-scale trajectories, seamlessly with trivial, intimate moments of everyday practices

-employing the ideas from phenomenology, semiotics, post-structuralism and social theory for archaeological research

-making use of historical sources for archaeological research

-Hallstatt and La Tène cultures, and their relations with the Mediterranean region

-conceptualising the essence of city and urbanism

-understanding Iron Age urbanism north of the Alps (mainly in south Germany), in terms of the tension between city’s inherent centrifugal tendency and centripetal conditions
