The McDonald Institute Monographs series exists primarily to disseminate the results of archaeological fieldwork, and of the Institute’s interdisciplinary conferences and workshops.
History
The McDonald Institute Monographs Series was initiated in 1996 with the publication of Modelling the Early Human Mind, edited by Paul Mellars and Kathleen Gibson.

Our full archive of monographs is available by publication date (2021 - present; 2016‒2020; 2011‒2015; 2006‒2010; 2001‒2005; 1996‒2000). Our full catalogue is presented here by publication date.
Our publications are distributed by Pen & Sword Books/Casemate Academic. Direct links to Pen & Sword Books are included in the catalogue where the book is still in print. We also sell some of our publications as e-books. Volumes published under the McDonald Conversations Series (online open access only) have links to the University of Cambridge repository Apollo, where they may be freely accessed.
Submission process
If you wish to submit a book proposal please contact the Series Editor in the first instance for more information. Book proposals are sent for peer review and then presented to the Managing Committee of the Institute for a preliminary decision. Upon acceptance of your proposal and submission of the completed work, the full manuscript will be peer-reviewed. Once the manuscript has been accepted you will be required to put it into McDonald Institute house-style. These style guidelines are currently being updated. Image guidelines
Contributors should ensure that all photographs have sufficient resolution, and that maps, diagrams and drawings are of the highest standard and stylistically consistent. Improving sub-standard illustrations can be time-consuming and costly. Please refer to our Image Submission Guidelines and contact Ben Plumridge if further assistance or clarification is required.
